Samsung Will use OLED for their Laptops, to-be-Revealed soon

Samsung Display said that they have developed the world’s first UHD OLED (organic light emitting diode) display for laptops. The panel-making unit of Samsung Electronics said that they would begin the mass production of the UHD OLED panels starting from mid-February, and these panels will have a diagonal size of 15.6 inches and a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels.

In a statement, Samsung Display said that the displays would have a high resolution, low blue light, and a wide viewing angle, which will allow them to tackle the premium segments. The company also added that their new UHD OLED laptop display has met the standards of the Display HDR True Black specification, which was released by VESA. Samsung also noted that the new UHD OLED panel will have a 1.7-times higher color volume in comparison to LCD panels which have similar dimensions and will be capable of displaying 3.4 million colors and meeting the DCI-P3 colour gamut.

The company said that the OLED panels would be thinner and will be energy efficient in comparison to their LCD products, but they will also come at a much higher price ( about $50 to $60, or approximately Rs. 3,600 to Rs. 4,300) in comparison to the regular LCD panel.

In 2019, market observers have expected growing demand for laptops that use UHD OLED panels, since they are better to watching high-resolution content and to play games.

Jae-nam Yun, the head of the marketing team at Samsung Display said- “Our 15.6-inch UHD OLED panel will provide the most suitable display solutions for carry-on IT devices that have outstanding HDR enhancements, unparalleled color reproduction, and much-improved outdoor visibility. We have no doubt that our new OLED display will offer a much better visual experience to notebook users all over the world.
