Fortnite Will Release Spectator Mode Soon

A Fortnite spectator mode might be released soon. Epic Games has decided to host a private event in Los Angeles during the first week of February. A part of this agenda would include “playing custom matches that will help test the unreleased spectating features as well as tools which would be used in future events.” An email from Epic Games which was sent to YouTuber BluenightEdgar was reported by Fortnite news site Fortnite Insider. In return to participate in the spectator mode test sessions, players will receive free food and V-Bucks. The amount of V-Bucks that would be given hasn’t been revealed as of now. The event’s timings are as follows.

  • February 4 – 10:00 am – 5:00pm PT
  • February 5 – 0:00 am – 5:00pm PT
  • February 6 – 0:00 am – 5:00pm PT
  • February 7 – 0:00 am – 5:00pm
  • February 8 – 0:00 am – 5:00pm PT
  • February 11 – 0:00 am – 5:00pm PT
  • February 12 – 0:00 am – 5:00pm PT

A report from Fortnite Insider referred to the Fortnite leaker Lucas Yoshi who had tweeted an image of what looks like the game’s code which has seen a spectate button.

The tweet reads-So it looks like the ‘join as player’ button is related to spectating? I will look into it a bit more,

This followed a second tweet which mentioned that it has been added in the Fortnite 7.20 update in addition to the  “>InSpectatorQueueType >PassThrough >SpectateButton >ToggleSpectator”.

It is quite possible that this feature might be used exclusively for events only, but players have been requesting for the ability to spectate their friends whereas they have been waiting for a match to end. In addition to this, it might also be possible that Epic Games might be busy developing spectator mode for events and might further roll them out to the public at a later time.
